Power Steering Pump Belt Adjustment
CD With engine stopped, the belt should be tight enough

so that it will deflect to 12 in(6-13 mm) when pressed with the finger at the point indicated If the belt is too tight, excessive

belt and bearing wear can occurIf it is too loose, slippage can
occur, resulting in belt wear and poor power steering operationBelt tension should be checked after 10 hours of service and every 50 hours thereafter
CD Power Steering Pump Pulley Circulating Pump Pulley Belt Tension Check Point
Check power steering pump belt tension midway between the circulating pump pulley and the power steering pump pulley CDRetighten new belt, or check old belt, after 10 hours service

and every 50 hours thereafter

When adjusting power steering pump belt, never pry against the pump reservoir or pull against the filler neck
