Place valve spring in position with the closed coil end toward the cylinder head
Installation
1Wipe off engine block gasket surface and be certain no foreign material has fallen into the cylinder bores, bolt holes, or the valve lifter areaIt is good practice to clean out bolt holes with an air hose
This engine has special marine head gasketsDo not substitute automotive head gaskets
2Install new head gasket on cylinder blockDowels in the block will hold the gasket in positionAlways handle gaskets carefully to avoid kinking or damage to the surface treatment of the gasketsDO NOT use any type of sealing material on head gasketsThe gaskets are coated with special lacquer to provide good seal, once the parts have warmed up3Carefully set in place on the engine block dowel pins4Clean and lubricate the head bolts with Volvo Penta Gasket Sealing Compound or CXIIC Gasket Sealing CompoundInstall bolts
