Exhaust Manifold Replacement Removal
Drain water from respective exhaust manifold before be-
ginning procedure1Remove high-rise exhaust elbow following procedure under High-Rise Exhaust Elbow Replacement2Carefully pull wires off spark plugs3Loosen hose clamp at front of manifold, and pull off water
hose4Remove manifold attaching screws, nuts and washersDiscard nutsRemove manifold and discard manifold gasket
Cleaning
Clean mating surfaces on manifold and cylinder headClean the threads on the exhaust manifold boltsInspection
such as shown 0Ik:, P'iN 909836, and new elbow gasket to seal water passage in manifoldBe sure to apply sealer to gasketInstall rubber drain cap to manifold and secure with clampAttach gearcase pressure tester (such as Stevens Company S-34) to the water inlet hoseA bushing can be made to secure pressure tester to hoseWith the pressure tester attached to the manifold, submerge manifold in waterPressurize the manifold to 10-15 PSI (22-25 kPa) and check for leaksInstallation 1Install new exhaust manifold gasket
