Cylinder Block Clean and Inspect Clean:
1Sealing material from the mating surfaces2Boil the cylinder block in caustic solution3Flush the cylinder block with clean water or steam4Cylinder bores5Oil galleries and the passages
6Scale deposits from the cooling system passages7After cleaning the engine block, spray or wipe the cylinder bores and machined surfaces with clean engine oil
Inspect:
1Valve lifter bores for deep scratches and varnish deposits2Check the bores for cracks3Cylinder walls for scoring4Cooling jackets
