4Piston and connecting rod into the proper bore m m

aWith the connecting rod cap removed, install 5239 onto the connecting rod boltsbLocate the piston ring end gapsLubricate the piston and rings with engine oil
[]J cWithout disturbing the ring end gap location, install 8037
over the piston and compress the ringsdPlace the piston in its matching boreThe connecting rod bearing tang slots must be on the side opposite the camshaftUsing light blows with hammer handle, tap the piston down into its boreAt the same time, from beneath the engine, guide the connecting rod onto the crankpin with 5239Hold the ring compressor against the block until all rings have entered the cylinder boreeRemove 5239 from the connecting rod boltsEach connecting rod and bearing cap should be marked, beginning at the front of the engineCylinders 1,3, and are the right bank and 2, 4, and are the left bank (when viewed from the front)The numbers on the connecting rod and bearing cap must be on the same side when installed in the cylinder boreIf connecting rod is ever transposed from one block or cylinder to another, new connecting rod bearings should be fitted and the connecting rod should be numbered to correspond with the new cylinder number5Connecting rod cap with crankshaft bearing6Connecting rod bolt nuts
