4Remove pressure regulator valve and valve partsIf necessary, remove oil pump suction pipe and screen by pulling from pump housingINotel Do not disturb oil pickup pipe on screenThis pipe is located at assembly5Wash all parts in cleaning solvent and dry using compressed airInspection Should any of the following conditions be found during inspection operations, the defective parts should be replaced1Inspect pump body for cracks and excessive wearInspect oil pump gears for excessive wear or damage2Check shaft for looseness in the housingCheck inside of cover for wear that would permit oil to leak past the ends of gears3Check the oil pick-up screen for damage to screen or relief grommet4Check pressure regulator valve plunger for fit in coverAssembly and Installation 1Place drive gear and shaft in pump bodyInstall idler gear so that smooth side of gear will be toward the cover2Install new pump to cover gasket to ensure correct end clearance of the gears3Install suction pipe and screen assembly to pump body and install cover and attaching screwsTighten screws to 72 inIbs(8 Nm) and check to see that shaft turns freely4Install regulator valve plunger, spring, retainer and pin5Align oil pump driveshaft slot to match with distributor tangInstall oil pump to block, positioning flange over distributor lower bushingUse no gasket INote I
