2Remove the spark plugs3Remove cap on main bearing requiring replacement and remove bearing from capInstall main bearing removing and installing tool in the oil hole in the crankshaft INotel

A cotter pin may be bent as required to do the job
4Rotate the crankshaft clockwise as viewed from the front of the engineThis will roll upper bearing out of engine5Oil new upper bearing and insert plain (unnotched) end of the bearing between crankshaft and indented or notched sideRotate the bearing into place6Install new bearing in bearing capThe rear main bearing journal has no oil hole drillingTo remove the upper bearing half proceed as follows after cap is removed: aUse small drift punch and hammer to start the bearing rotating out of block
bUse pair of pliers to hold the bearing thrust surface to the oil slinger, and rotate the crankshaft to pull bearing outcTo install, start the bearing (side not notched) into notched side of block by hand, then use pliers as before to turn bearing half into placedThe last 1,-;' in(6,35 mm) movement may be done by holding just the slinger with pliers (taped jaws) or tap in place with drift punch
