Section 10 STEERINGFRONT SUSPENSION Subsection 01 (STEERING SYSTEM)
Reinstall terminals and replug connectorsTest grips to ensure they heat properly
Grease fitting no16 of swivel arms no14 must face toward center of vehicleSteering Column
Unfasten windshieldRemove cap no3 or steering padding no23 according to modelRemove consoleRefer to STEERING COLUMN POSITION ADJUSTMENT belowCut locking ties retaining harnesses to steering column no1Unbolt handlebar ass'y and move it asideRemove tuned pipeDetach the short tie rod no8 from the steering columnNote that hardened flat washer no7 goes on each side of steering column leverDisengage carriage bolts no6 from steering column support no15Remove lower plastic U-clamps from steering columnDisengage carriage bolts no5 from steering supportRemove upper plastic U-clamps from steering columnPull steering column from topIf, for any reason, the master cylinder has been removed from handlebar note that its clamp no27 must be installed with the embossed arrow pointing downwardTorque screws to Nm (71 lbfin) beginning with the bottom screw
