Section 08 DRIVE SYSTEM Subsection 06 (CHAINCASE)
Position the sprockets no9 and no11 with the backside of writing facing the chaincase coverSprocket hub faces toward chaincaseInstall the castellated nut no8 and torque to 60 Nm (44 lbfft)Apply Loctite 271 (red) (PN 293 800 005) on lower sprocket screw threads and torque to 48 Nm (35 lbfft)Install new cotter pin no7 in the position shownCAUTION: When removing cotter pin always replace with new oneCotter pin will rub on chaincase cover if installed otherwiseA32D0KA

TYPICAL CHAINCASE HOUSING REMOVAL

INSPECTION
Visually inspect the chain and sprockets for wear, cracked, damaged or missing linksIf problem is detected, replace drive chain and sprockets as an assemblyCheck the drive chain deflectionIf the deflection is greater than 38 mm (1-12 in) without the chain tensioner, replace the chainCheck for worn or defective bearingsCheck chain tensioner roller no18 for wear or other damagesIf the roller does not turn smoothly, replace the needle bearing no19NOTE: Heat the roller screw no20 to break the threadlockerDuring installation of screw, apply Loctite 271 (red) (PN 293 800 005) under the screw's head only, no on threadsA02D08A
