MPEM ON VEHICLE WITH MANUAL STARTER
FAN-COOLED ENGINES TEST
Continuity Trigger coil #1 Trigger coil #2 Output Trigger coil #1 Trigger coil #2
TEST TEST PROBES RESISTANCE VOLTAGE
Ground connection BLACK wire and negative battery terminal or frame 00.0 to 00.5
Power from regulator REDBLUE and BLACK wires to Vdc
Voltage to ignition coil WHITEBLUE and BLACK wires 225.0 to 275.0 Vdc With tether cap in place and engine cut-out switch in run positionWhile cranking engine
TEST PROBES
BLUEYELLOW and WHITEYELLOW wires 160 to 180 160 to 180
BLUEYELLOW and WHITEYELLOW wires .150 to .350 Vac .150 to .350 Vac
RESISTANCE VOLTAGE NOTE
While cranking engine
If trigger coil is out of specification, replace it
NOTE: For SDI and Power Tek engines, refer to ENGINE MANAGEMENT for more information concerning the Engine Control Module (ECM)When other components have been tested above and are good, the electronic module can be suspectedEnsure wiring and connectors are in good condition and perform the following tests prior to replacing the electronic moduleDisconnect the connector housing between module and high voltage coil4 1
