Section 05 ENGINE MANAGEMENT (POWER TEK) Subsection 01 (OVERVIEW)
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Power TEK The acronym Power TEK refers to the following technologies found on this engine: Throttle position sensor Electronic RAVE Knock sensor For this Power TEK 2-stroke engine, TPS and knock sensor have been added to provide inputs to the ECMThe engine is equipped with two traditional TM carburetors coupled with the DPM system (Digital Performance Management)The ECM electronically controls the electric RAVE valve solenoid and the DPM solenoidThis achieves an improved fuel economy, cleaner engine for emission requirements and improved engine protection (against seizure)The use of TPS along with the trigger coils (engine RPM) allows the ECM to recognize the engine load and thus using 3D DPM and ignition mapsThe ECM applies the proper ignition and DPM maps for optimum engine operation in all riding conditions
