Before completely disassembling the engine, proceed with an engine leak testRefer to LEAK TEST
COMPONENT REMOVAL WITH THE ENGINE INSTALLED
Most engine components can be removed with engine on vehicle such as: cylinder head cylinder(s) piston(s) RAVE valve(s) reed valve(s)

CLEANING
Discard all gaskets and O-ringsUse Loctite Chisel (PN 413 708 500) to clean mating surfacesClean all metal components in non-ferrous metal cleanerScrape off carbon formation from cylinder exhaust port cylinder head and piston domeNOTE: The letters "AUS" (over an arrow on the piston dome) must be visible after cleaningClean the piston ring groove with groove cleaner tool or with piece of broken ring
