E-Clip and Needle
Remove screws from needle retaining plate to remove the needle no3The position of the needle in the throttle slide is adjustable by means of an E-clip no2 inserted into of grooves located on the upper part of the needlePosition (at top) is the leanest, (at bottom) the richestNOTE: The last digit of the needle identification number gives the recommended position of the E-clip from the top of the needleEXAMPLE: Needle identification

CAUTION: Spark plugs will foul if float is adjusted too lowEngine may be damaged if float is adjusted too highCorrect fuel level in float chamber is vital toward maximum engine efficiencyTo check for correct float level proceed as follows: Make sure that float arm no9 is symmetrical not distorted Remove float bowl and gasket from carburetor With carburetor chamber upside-down on level surface, measure height between bowl seat and top edge of float armKeep ruler perfectly vertical and in line with main jet hole6DH4-3 Recommended position of the E-clip from top Lean Rich
