The following chart is provided to help in diagnosing the probable source of troublesIt should be used as guidelineSome causes or corrections may not apply to specific modelNOTE: For the SDI fuel and oil systems troubleshooting, also refer to appropriate ENGINE subsectionSymptom: HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION OR RICH MIXTURE1Check fuel tank- Perforated fuel tankReplace fuel tank2Check fittings on fuel pump, fuel tank and carburetor(s)- Leaking fittingsReplace defective part3Check choke adjustment- Fuel flows through choke circuit while engine runsReadjust choke4Check float height in carburetor(s)- Fuel level is too high in float bowl(s)Adjust according to specifications (refer to TECHNICAL DATA)5Check needle valve of carburetor(s)- Foreign particles prevent needle valve(s) from closing andor worn seating areaClean or replace needle valve(s), then clean seating area
