Symptom: ENGINE DOES NOT OFFER MAXIMUM POWER ANDOR DOES NOT REACH MAXIMUM OPERATING RPM(cont'd)
7Perform engine leak testRefer to ENGINE LEAK TEST procedureCheck for possible piston seizure- Damaged head gasket andor seal andor leaking intakeexhaust valve(s)Replace andor repair defective parts
Symptom: ENGINE CRANKS BUT FAILS TO START1Check fault codes in B.U.D.Ssystem- Check if electrical actuator(s) isare defectiveReplace defective part(s) (refer to COMPONENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT)2Check if stick coil fits on spark plug (refer to spark plug)3Check spark plug- Define spark plug (no spark) or wrong spark plug gapReadjust gap and clean spark plug or replace4Check for fuel on spark plug- Flooded engine (spark plug wet when removed)Activate engine drowned mode and crank engine with rags over the spark plug holes (refer to OVERVIEW in EMS system)5Check battery voltage- Battery is discharged and starter works not properlyCharge battery6Check engine compression- Insufficient engine compressionReplace defective part(s) (ex piston, ring(s), etc7In cold weathers, check engine decompressor (located on camshaft sprockettiming gear)- Centrifugal weight spring is not engaged andor damagedReadjust spring or replace centrifugal weight if damaged
