Section 04 FUEL SYSTEM Subsection 03 (DPM SYSTEM)
OVERVIEW
NOTE: For Power TEK engines, refer to ENGINE MANAGEMENTThe carburetors are calibrated to operate at -20C (-4F), at sea levelUnder these conditions the carburetors will properly fulfill engine airfuel requirements and the DPM is not usedTherefore, the carburetor bowls are under atmospheric pressure and the carburetors work as conventional carburetorsNOTE: For engine starting and warm-up, the required richer mixture is supplied by conventional choke (enricher type)When the temperature andor altitude increases, then the carburetor jetting becomes inappropriate because engine needs less fuelThe DPM will then decrease the carburetor bowl pressure which in turn, leans the fuel mixtureThe DPM receives negative pressure created in the carburetor venturiA solenoid (controlled by MPEM) opens the passage, when activated, to decrease the pressure in the carburetor bowls
