Section 08 REAR SUSPENSION Subsection 01 (SC-10 III SUSPENSION)
SHOCK ABSORBER INSPECTION
NOTE: Shocks installed on this vehicle are painted black or dark graySecure the shock body end in vise with its rod upwardLUBRICATION
Lubricate front and rear arms at grease fittings using suspension synthetic grease (PN 293 550 033)

CAUTION: Do not clamp directly on shock bodyExamine each shock for leaksExtend and compress the piston several times over its entire strokeCheck that it moves smoothly and with uniform resistance with its rod upwardAfter at least complete strokes, pay attention to the following conditions that will denote defective shock: skip or hang back when reversing stroke at mid travel Seizing or binding condition except at extreme end of either stroke Oil leakage gurgling noise, after completing one full compression and extension strokeRenew if any faults are presentIf suspecting frozen shock proceed as follows: Place shock in freezer (temperature below 0C (32F)) for hoursPush down on rod and note its resistanceIf shock is frozen it will be impossible to compress than for the new one
