The tether cord cap contains magnet and ROM chipThe magnet actually closes the reed switch inside the post which is the equivalent of mechanical ONOFF switchThe chip has unique digital codeThe DESS circuitry in the ECM ECU is activated at the factoryTherefore, tether cord cap must be programmed to start the engineNOTE: Actually, it is the memory of the ECM ECU which is programmed to recognize the digital code of the tether cord capThis is achieved with the VCK (Vehicle Communication Kit) (PN 529 035 981)Refer to B.U.D.S.TM help system to program tether cord capThe system is quite flexibleUp to tether cord capsmay be programmed in the memory of the vehicle ECMThey can also be erased individuallyNOTE: If desired, tether cord cap can be used on other snowmobile equipped with the DESSIt only needs to be programmed for that snowmobileThe memory of the ECM ECU features self-diagnostic mode for the DESS operationRefer to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES section for more informationThe memory of the ECM ECU is permanentIf the battery is disconnected, no information is lost
