Section 06 ELECTRICAL Subsection 05 (ELECTRIC STARTER)
REMOVAL
Fan Cooled ZX Series Starter Disconnect BLACK ground cable from battery Disconnect RED positive cable from battery
DISASSEMBLY
Fan Cooled ZX Series Disconnect bare wire linking starter and relayRemove nuts no16 then relay no10 by lifting and pulling to disengage from drive lever no15Unscrew starter screws (long) no1 then pull yoke no8 with end frame no2 to separate from drive housing no17Pull armature no9 with drive lever no15Remove insulator no4 then brush springs no7 being careful not to lose them since they will be projected outPull brush holder no5 from yoke no8Insert blade of small screwdriver between stop collars
WARNING
Always disconnect ground cable first and connect last Remove tuned pipe Disconnect RED cable and REDGREEN wire from starter relay Disconnect ground cable from MAG side bracket Unbolt starter from PTO side bracket Unbolt MAG side bracket from engine Remove starter from engine
