Section 04 ENGINE Subsection 07 (REWIND STARTER)
REMOVAL
The following must be removed before rewind starter removal: chain guard drive chain clutch muffler disconnect fuel hose engine Using small screwdriver, extract rope knot from starter grip no1Cut rope no2 close to knotTie knot near starterMark rewind starter housing no4 position for reassemblyRemove screws no3 securing rewind starter housing no4 to engine then remove rewind starter assyDISASSEMBLY
To remove rope from rewind starter mechanism: Place rewind starter assy on bench First remove screw no5, then ratchet guide no6 Remove friction spring no8 and both ratchets no9 with springs no10 Remove sheave no7 from starter housing, as shown in the next illustrationA31C1BA
