7HIGH VOLTAGE COIL VOLTAGE TESTING
1Disconnect spark plug cap from spark plug2Fasten alligator clip to spark plug cable, near the spark plug3Connect other multimeter wire to engine (ground),then place selector switch to and scale to 0.00Vac4Activate the manual starter and check values indicated by the multimeter5Repeat operation times6Compare readings with those appearing in the IGNITION table
LIGHTING GENERATOR COIL VOLTAGE TESTING
NOTE: For 290 system, the lighting generator coil is not part of the ignition systemIt is selfcontained system used to supply current to the lighting system and to other devices working on alternating currentHowever, this system can be tested using multimeter1Disconnect round 2-MO housing from engine (YELLOW, YELLOW wires)2Connect multimeter probes to YELLOW wires,then place selector switch to and scale to 0.00Vac3Activate the manual starter and check values indicated by the multimeter4Repeat operation times
