Section 05 TRANSMISSION Subsection 06 (BRAKE)
REMOVAL
All Models BRAKE DISC REMOVAL Brake disc can be withdraw without removing chaincaseProceed as follows: Remove belt guard, belt and driven pulley Remove air silencer Unbolt bearing support no4 from chassis Unbolt caliper from chaincase Open chaincase and remove upper sprocket493 Engine Type Equipped Models Pull countershaft ass'y no3 toward driven pulley side to get access to clip no6 on countershaft
CAUTION: Do not clean brake pads in solventSoiled brake pads must be replaced by new ones
INSPECTION
1, Brake Pad
Brake pads must be replaced when lining is mm (132 in) thick or lessCAUTION: Brake pads must always be replaced in pairs

2, Brake Disc
Check for scoring, cracking or bending, replace as requiredCAUTION: Brake disc should never be machined
