INSPECTION
Inspect rotary valve cover for warpageSmall deformation can be corrected by surfacing with fine sand paper on surface plateSurface part against oiled sand paperInspect bearingsCheck for scoring, pitting, chipping or other evidence of wearMake sure plastic cage (on bigger bearing) is not meltedRotate them and make sure they turn smoothlyCheck for presence of brass fillings in gear housingVisually check gear wear patternIt should be even on tooth length all aroundOtherwise it could indicate bent shaft; check deflectionReplace gear if damagedRefer to ENGINE DIMENSION MEASUREMENT 04-04
