Section 05 TRANSMISSION Subsection 03 (DRIVE PULLEY)
GENERAL
Some drive pulley components (return spring, ramp) can be changed to improve vehicle performance in high altitude regionsThe High Altitude Technical Data Booklet (PN 484 300 003 and 484 054 500 for binder) gives information about calibration according to altitude
NOTE: Sliding half can be removed while fixed half remains on crankshaft;
WARNING

Never use any type of impact wrench at drive pulley removal and installationRemove retaining screwTo remove drive pulley ass'y andor fixed half from engine, use puller (PN 529 007 900)

CAUTION

Such modifications should only be performed by experienced mechanics since they can greatly affect vehicle performanceVerify spring specifications before installationDo not only refer to the spring color codeNOTE: TRA drive pulley stands for Total Range Adjustable drive pulley

CAUTION

These pulleys have metric threadsDo not use imperial threads pullerAlways tighten puller by hand to ensure that the drive pulley have the same type of threads (metric vs imperial) prior to fully tightenTo Remove Drive Pulley Ass'y: Retain drive pulley with holderInstall puller in pulley shaft then tighten
