Section 03 ENGINE (OIL INJECTION SYSTEM)

CHECKING OPERATION
On Vehicle

NOTE: Main oil line must be full of oilSee

Lift rear of vehicle and support with mechanical standUnbolt banjo fittings from pumpStart engine and stop it as soon as it firesCheck that oil level in small oil lines is passed banjo fittings end by about 25 mm (1 in) (this will be indicated by clear section of small oil lines of about 25 mm (1 in))Repeat the procedure until this condition is attainedReconnect banjo fittings with washers on each side, start engine and run at idle while holding the pump lever in fully open positionOil columns must advance into small oil linesIf not, remove pump assembly and check the pump gear and drive shaft (if applicable) for defects, replace as necessaryTest pump as describes belowNOTE: Through normal use, oil level must not drop in small tubesIf oil drops, verify check valve operation in banjo fittingsFor 599 engine check valve is integrated in injection nozzleFor 779 check valve is in oil lineReplace as necessary'
