Section 07 STEERINGFRONT SUSPENSION Sub-Section 03 (SUSPENSION AND SKI SYSTEM)
INSPECTION
Check all rubber cushions for crack and wearReplace as requiredCheck straightness of splines and proper interlocking with steering armReplace as requiredCheck for straightness of swing armReplace as requiredCheck if grease fittings are not cloggedCheck proper action of sliding blocks in swing armCheck skis and runners for wear, replace as necessaryCheck condition of ski stopperReplace it when deterioratedTo check condition of shock on all S-Series models except Touring SLE, refer to Tundra shock inspectionOn Touring SLE gas bag shock can be inspected as followsBecause of gas pressure, strong resistance is felt when compressing shockWhen released, the shock will extend unassistedRenew as requiredIf suspecting an internal gas leak between oil chamber and gas chamber, check shock as followsInstall shock in vise clamping on its bottom eyelet with its rod upwardLet it stand for minutesCompletely push down the shock rod then releaseRod must comes out at steady speedIf speed suddenly increases particulary at end of extension, replace shockIf suspecting frozen gas shock proceed as followsPlace shock in freezer (temperature below 0C (32F)) for hoursPush down on rod and note its resistance, compare to new shockIf shock is frozen it will be more difficult to compress than for the new one
