RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS
As an alternate method, magneto system components can be checked with digital ohmmeterNOTEAll resistance measurements must be performed with parts at room temperature (approx20"C (68 "F))Temperature greatly affects resistance measurementsPART NAME Ignition generator coil Large lighting generator coil Small lighting generator coil WIRE COLOR BL with BR YLBK with YL GNBK with GN BL no14 with BL no15 BL no15 with high tension wire
Disconnect connector at ignition coil and magneto junctionMeasure resistance between each terminalRefer to the following table for values and wire colorsNOTEAn ignition coil with good resistance measurement can still be faultyVoltage leak can occur at high voltage level which is not detectable with an ohmmeter
