Se ion 06 ELECT RI CAL Sub-Section 06 (TESTING PROCEDURE)
BOSCH BREAKER-POINT IGNITION SYSTEM TESTING
(Applicable to 247 Engine Type)
NOTEEnsure ignition cut-out switches are properly working and they are in the ON position prior to performing the following tests
MAGNETO OUTPUT
(Ignition Generator Coil)
1Disconnect BLUE and BLACK wires terminal no15 of ignition coil2) Connect tester wires then set switch and dial as follows :

b) Indicator lamp does not light: Generator coil output is below specificationsThis could be caused by faulty generator coil or breaker pointsCheck breaker points condition and adjustment, and correct as necessaRepeat testIf lamp still does not light, the generator coil is defective and should be replaced
LIGHTING GENERATOR COIL OUTPUT
NOTEThe lighting generator coil is not part of the ignition systemIt is separate system that supplies current to the lighting system and AC-powered devicesHowever, it can be tested with the same testerNOTEThere are independent lighting generator coilsmain (large) coil wires are YELLOW and YELLOWBLACK while auxiliaty lighting generator coil (small) wires are GREEN and GREENBLACK1) Disconnect wiring harness junction block at engine2) Connect tester leads as illustrated using harness adaptors then set switch and dial as follows :
