TEST CONDITION
All tests are performed on the vehicle at cranking speed
Multiple problems
There is always the possibility of more than one faulty partIf after component has been replaced, the problem still persists, carefully repeat the complete test procedure to find the other faulty part
Vigorous cranking against compression causes the flywheel to snap over, raising the output higher than by cranking without compression, therefore, do not remove spark plugTest values listed are taken against compressionAlways crank vigorously as in actual startingAlways proceed in the following order: 1Connect tester and clip leads as illustrated for each specific test2Follow test procedure sequence3After every test that lights the indicator lamp, reset the indicator circuit by depressing the reset button
Breaker point ignition system (247 engine type)
1Generator coil output
1) Disconnect blue and black wires from terminal (15) of ignition coil2) Attach tester lead to blue and black wires previously disconnectedConnect tester lead to good engine ground
