Section 02 ENGINE Sub-section 05 (503 ENGINE TYPE)
ADJUSTMENT
Prior to adjusting the pump, make slJre all carburetor adjustments are completed
CAUTION: Proper oil injection pump adjustment is very imponantArrv delay in the opening of the pump can resutt in serious engine damage
To synchronize pump with carburetor:
Eliminate the throttle cable free-play by pressing the throttle lever until light resistance is felt, then hold in placeThe aligning marks on the pump casting and on the lever must alignIf not, loosen the adjuster nut and adjust accordinglyRetighten the adjuster nut
To bleed oil lines:
All oil lines should be full of oilIf required, bld the main oil line (between reservoir and pump) by loosening the bleeder screw until all air has escape:! from the lineMake sure the reservoir ;s sufficiently filled Check the small oil lines (between pump and intake manifold!If required, fill the lines by running the engine at idle speed while holding the pump lever in fully open positionCTYPICAL)
