BATTERY
REMOVAL
WARNING: When disconnectingbattery cables, always remove the black negative cable first then
the positive cable (red)
A hydrometer measures the state of charge of battery
in terms of specific gravityMost hydrometers give true reading at 2JOC (BOF)In order to obtain correct readingsadjust the initial reading by adding .004 points to the hydrometer readings for each 5.5C (lOF) above 27"'C (801F) and by subtracting ,004 points for every 5.5C nOIlF) below 27C
CLEANING
Clean the battery: casing, vent caps, cables and battery posts using solution of baking soda and waterCAUTION: Do not allow cleaning solution to enter battery interior since it wijl destroy the el.ectrolyte
THIS CHART WILL BE USEFUL TO FIND THE CORRECT READING
Remove corrosion from battery cable terminals and battery posts using firm copper brush

Visually Inspect battery casing for cracks or other possible damageIf casting is damaged, replace battery
