SECTION 06 STEERINGSKIS SUB-SECTION 01 (STEERING SYSTEM)
INSPECTION
Check skis and runner shoes for excessive wear, replace as necessary(See section 06-02 Make sure steering arm and ski leg splines interlockCheck general condition of steering systemCheck general condition of steering system components for wear and replace if necessary
The steering arm angles should be equal on both sides when skis are parallel with vehicleTighten ball joint nuts to specified torque and bend lock tabs over nuts(See illustration Tighten steering arm nuts to specified torque and bend lock tabs over nuts(See illustration

Affix the ball bushing to steering shaft using appropriate Allen head boltTighten bolt until there is approximately mm (14") free-play existing between ball bushing and steering shaft

Grips can be removed and installed without any damage by injecting compressed air into the handlebar Another way to install grips consists in soaking them in soapy water (detergent for dishes) and in pushing them onto the handlebar with soft hammer
