SECTION 04 ELECTRICAL SUB-SECTION 05 (ELECTRIC STARTER)
REMOVAL
Disconnect black cab le ground connection from battery Disconnect red battery cable and red and green wire from solenOid sWitch Remove starter
To remove the pinion stop collar from the armature,
make too similar to the illustration belowDrive out the pmlon stop collar toward the overrunnmg clutch usmg the tool as shown below then remove snap ring

_ CAUTION: To carry out some of the followingprocedures, it is necessary that special equipment be availableIf you do not possess such equipment, either replace the damaged components or have the parts overhauled in workshop equipped with proper tooling)Check the wear on bushmgs by measUring the amount of side play between the armature shaft and the bushings The side play should not exceed 20 mm (0008") If excessivereplace the bushing To replace bushmgpress out the old one and press In new one with bushmg pusher The correct size of the bushmg pusher to use IS given the illustration below0= 16 mm (065")1.77 mm (007")25.4 mm (1")
