1Slide lower "0" ring of deflection distance scale to 32 mm (1 14")2Slide upper "0" ring to zero pound on the deflection force scale3Apply pressure until lower "0" ring is flush with edge of rule4Read deflection force on the upper scale (at top edge of "0" ring)Reading of 6.8 kg (15 pounds) should be obtained
