SECTION 06 SUB-SECTION 04 (DRIVE AXLE)
REMOVAL
Drain oil from chaincase or gear boxRelease drive chain

tension (if applicable)Raise and block rear of vehicle off groundRemove suspension
Tighteningtorquesforsprocketsare: 3-4 Nom (2-3 ft-Ibs)When reassemblinginstall new nut or apply "Loctite" (or equivalent) on old threadsTighten in the following
sequence
Pry oil seals from chaincase and end bearing housingRemove end bearing housing and chaincase if necessary
NOTE: If applicableremove battery and its seatIf vehicle is equipped with speedometerremove angle drive unit and coupling cable
Release drive sprocket teeth from track notchesat the same timepulling the drive axle towards the end bearing housing side of frameRemove drive axle from vehicleIf applicablepullout
shim located between bearing and lower chaincase

sprocket
