SECTION 02 SUB-SECTION 08 (GEARBOX)
Install gearbox cover on gearbox using "Loctite 515 crankcase sealant" or an equivalent such as silicone sealantsTorque nuts in the following sequence to 27 N.m (20 ft-lbs)
Install rear axle and bogie wheel sets to their original positionConnect shifter mechanism to gearbox lever and adjust(See section 08-08, Shifter rnechanism Rotate the tensioner axle to obtain mm (14") maximum drive chain free-playFill gearbox with 450 mL (16 Impounces) of Bombardier chaincase oilInstall exhaust manifold, drive belt and brake assemblyProceed with pulley alignmentProceed with track tension and alignmentInstall pulley guard and cab
Position gaskets and spacer of gearbox on frame studsPlace lower sprocket in drive chain and push it forward inside the housing (between the track tunnels)
Position gasket on frame studsPlace lower sprocket in drive chainSecure gearbox to frameTorque nuts to 22 N.m (16 ftlbs)CAUTION: Check condition of drive axles oil seals; replace if necessaryFrom the left side of vehicle, place the drive axle within the trackPush the end bearing side of axle through the orifice in left side of frame, then push the splined end of axle into gearbox lower sprocketInstall opposite drive axlePress each end bearing housing into frame and over axle bearingSecure housings to frame
