CARBURETOR loose levers or swivels and stripped threads2Exam ine the shafts and the body bearings for wearIf the shafts show excessive wear, replaceIf tbe bq9y bearing areas are worn, replace the body casting3Handle the inlet spring carefullyDo not stretch this spring or in any way change its compression characteristicsIf in doubt about its condition, replace4Inspect the cover casting for nicks, dents or cracks that could interfere with operation5Inspect the metering diaphragmThe center plate must be riveted securely to the diaphragm and the diaphragm should be free of holes and imperfectionsThe gasket should be replaced if it has holes or creases6Inspect the pumping diaphragm (s)It must be flat and free of holesThe gasket should be replaced if it has holes or creases7The filter screen should be cleaned by flushing with fuel or solvent and dried with compressed airIt is advisable to replace the gasket whenever the filter screen is servicedFlush all dirt from the plastic cover before assemblyNOTE: The inlet needle and seat are matched set and is tested for leaks at the factoryThe parts should not be interchangedthey must be retained as matched setA carefully rebuilt carburetor should perform wellThe two most likely causes of carburetor failure are dirt and careless repair jobA clean, carefully assembled unit is as good as new 2-07-07 using same procedureThe plugs must be correctly seated to avoid gasoline leakage
