1-13-06 INSPECTION 1Check general condition of chain linkageVisually inspect drive chain for cracked, damaged or missing link rollersInspect secure ness of riveted heads of double link pins GEAR BOX NOTE: Do not seat the circlip into its notch at this time(b) Insert the axle through the larger hole in side of lower housing assembly(c) Insert the sprocket with needle cage, washer and circlip onto the tensioner axleNOTE: The sprocket oil passage must be positioned as shown in figure 1-13-18
2Visually inspect oil 58als for cuts or other damageInspect oil seal springIf spring is damaged or stretched, it must be replacedReplace defective oil seals3Inspect sprockets and gears for damage, wom teeth, or spline distortionReplace de fective component(s)4Inspect general condition of all bearings (e.gpitted or missing roller bearings, freedom of movement and radial free play)Replace de fective bearing(s)
5Inspect drive shaft for deflection, worn or twisted splinesIf drive shaft is damaged it must be replaced6Inspect all threaded parts for stripped, crossed or otherwise damaged threadsReplace damaged parts
