CAUTION: Wear eye protection when using compressed air or cleaning solventsReview all fuel system warnings found on page 3.1 before proceeding
Carburetor Removal, Disassembly, and Inspection
1Remove carburetor from engineBefore disassembling, clean outside of carburetor thoroughly with solventCAUTION: Do not use compressed air to dry at this timeThe float chamber could become pressurized resulting in damage to the floats or inlet needle and seatDo not soak Keihin carburetors in carb cleanerClean only with aerosol cleaner2Remove slide valveInspect for nicks or burrs which may cause sticking
3Remove jet needle by compressing return spring toward top cap and removing throttle cableDisconnect cable holder and remove jet needleNote "E" clip position and inspect needle taper for wearAn indication of wear would be an hourglass shape or polished spots along the taper
