Drive and Brake Systems Caliper Assembly
1Replace caliper bolts and torque to specification2Remove the brake hose from the caliperDrain the brake fluid into jar or suitable container3Rotate and remove the brake pad retaining pin and then remove the brake padsRemove the caliper from the chaincase4Hold the caliper over the brake fluid jar and then push the pistons back into the caliperThis will push the brake fluid in the caliper out of the brake hose banjo fitting hole5Clamp the end of 14" thick 2" 10" piece of steel to the workbenchAllow the piece of steel to hang off of the bench by 4-5"6Position the caliper over the steel plate with the plate firmly against one of the retracted pistons
Caliper Bolts: 18-20 ft-lbs (24-27 Nm) 2Reconnect the cooling hoses3Place the brake hose on the caliper in the same orientation as it was before it was removed4Clean the threads of the banjo bolt and the threads in the caliper5Follow Brake Line ReplacementSee "Brake Hose Replacement" on page 7.146Install banjo bolt into the caliper and torque to specification7Bleed the brakesSee "Brake Fluid ReplacementBleeding" on page 7.128On liquid cooled caliper, bleed the cooling system of any trapped air
