Maintenance NOTE: Always install new EV base gasketNever reuse the gasket, or modify new gasket
Spark Plugs
Inspectreplace the spark plugs as outlined in the periodic maintenance tableThe spark plugs can be serviced by opening the left and right door panelsReplace spark plug when the following occurs:
Exhaust Valve Housing Fasteners: 10.5-13.5 ft-lb (14.3-18.3 Nm)Apply Loctite 242TM 12Reconnect the vent hoses13Torque lower steering post clamp fasteners to specification
Spark plug is damagedinsulator is cracked or missing Plug electrodeinsulator is fouled Replace at interval in maintenance table When inspecting spark plug, take note of the electrode and insulator colorA light browndark tan color indicates the engine is running properlyIf the spark plug electrodeinsulator is white, the engine may be running leanInspect the engine, throttle body boots, etcfor air leaksIf the spark plug electrodeinsulator is black, oily, or shows heavy soot, the engine may be running richInspect the engine, fuel system, and lubrication system for problemsSet the electrode gap to specification before installing new spark plug
