FINAL DRIVEBRAKES Jackshaft Removal
12345678910111213Remove the drive belt (J)Remove the driven clutch (N) and make note of the placement of the washers (O)Drain the chaincase fluidRemove the chaincase coverRemove the cotter pin on the upper sprocketApply parking brakeRemove the upper sprocket nutRemove the lower sprocket retaining boltLoosen the chain tensionerRemove the upper and lower sprockets and chain from chaincaseRelease the parking brakeRemove the bearing flange on the driven clutch side (I)Remove the jackshaft assembly (E,F,H) from the brake disc (D) and chassis by tapping on the end of the jackshaft (F) with soft face hammerThis will also remove the o-ring (B) and seal (C)Inspect jackshaft in bearing contact areaIf diameter is 0.001" (.025 mm) less than non-contact area, replace the jackshaft13Check clutch alignmentSee "Clutch AlignmentOffset" on page 6.14
