Shocks Walker Evans Air Piggyback Shock Disassembly
IMPORTANT: Verify the protective outer boot is not torn or damagedIf damaged, inspect the shock shaft for damageReplace shock shaft if damage is foundBODY LOOP NEEDLE VALVE O-RING BUTTON HEAD SCREW (SHOCK BODY) IFP O-RING WEARBAND BODY RESERVOIR BODY ADJUSTER PISTON O-RING SNAP RING BOLT PISTON SEAL HEAD O-RING U-CUP SEAL WIPER SEAL NEEDLE VALVE O-RING BUTTON HEAD SCREW (RESERVOIR) WEARBAND DROOP PLATE ASM
SHOCK ROD

6Turn the reservoir adjuster cap to the full soft position (all lines visible)7Remove the seal head from the shock body with large adjustable wrenchExtract the shock rod assembly from the shock body8Remove the shock from the vise and pour the oil into an appropriate containerRemove the shock body service port9When servicing the reservoir, remove the adjuster cap service portTurn the adjuster cap counterclockwise until the cap comes off the reservoir body10Remove the snap ringCarefully extract the adjuster piston from the reservoirDiscard the o-ring and replace with new11Point the reservoir body down while holding hand towel over the open endInsert an air chuck into the shock body service port and blow the IFP out of the reservoir12Discard the wearband and o-ringReplace with new parts13Remove the bolt securing the piston assembly to the shock rodRemove the valve shims and place them on paper towel or shop rag in the order in which they are removed14Remove the washers and droop plates from the rodCarefully pull the seal head off of the shock rod15Inspect the washers and shims for any damage or warpingReplace parts as requiredReplace the piston valve wearband16Replace the seal head o-ring, u-cup seal, and wiper seal with new partsApply thin coat of grease to the o-ring, and seals to aid assembly
