1Inspect bearings to verify they roll smoothly with no flat spots2Remove bearings using bearing splitter and press3Discard seals and thrust washersReplace with new parts4Inspect gear and input shaft teeth for rounded edges and abnormal wearReplace parts with new where applicable5Inspect engagement dog and sprocket engagement
