Final Drive and Brakes Chaincase Disassembly
1Position the vehicle on level groundDrain the oil out of the chaincase into suitable containerReplace the drain plug2Remove the right-side door panel, and exhaust silencer3Remove the chaincase coverUn-screw the chain tensioner bolt4Remove the cotter pin from the upper gear castle nut and discardLock the parking brake, then remove the castle nut5Remove the lower gear fastener and washerNote that beveled side of the washer faces out6Remove the chain and upperlower gears from the chaincase7Remove the brake caliper from the chaincaseSecure the caliper up and away from the chaincase17Lightly coat the outer edge of each new seal with oil, then install with the seal lips facing each bearing from the backside of the case18Inspect the jackshaft seal sleeve for abnormal wear and tearReplace the ring with new part
