Engine and Cooling Systems DisassemblyAssembly Process 1Remove the engine from the engine compartment2Follow the process for removing the cylinder head, cylinders, pistons, flywheelrecoil housing, and the wateroil pump3Remove the intake boots, and reed assembliesDiscard any seals or gaskets4Remove the crankcase fasteners then carefully pry apart the crankcase halvesDiscard the PTO and MAG crankshaft seals5Clean the two crankcase mating surfaces with carburetor cleaner and gasket removerFlush out the crankcase6Reinstall the crankshaft back into the lower crankcase using two new crankcase seals7Apply thin bead of Three Bond 1217H to the lower crankcase mating surfaceInstall the upper crankcase8Loosely install the crankcase fasteners, then torque to the specifications at the beginning of the chapterUse the correct torque sequence when tightening the screws
