Engine and Cooling Systems DisassemblyAssembly Process 1Remove the exhaust pipe and resonator2If the recoil assembly does not require attention, the recoil rope can remained attached to the handleIf recoil component work is desired, reference the Recoil Assembly sectionSee "Carbureted Recoil Assembly" on page 5.163Remove the recoilmagneto housing coverThe recoil assembly is located inside the housing4Remover the recoil hub from the flywheelSecure the flywheel with strap wrench, PN PU-45419Remove the flywheel nut and washer5Using the flywheel puller tool, PN 2871043, insert the puller's three screws into the flywheelNOTE: Do not thread the puller screws into the magnetostator located behind the flywheel6Turn the puller center bolt in until the flywheel "pops" off of the crankshaft7Mark the location of the magnetostator plate in several places using scribe8Remove the magnetostator from the crankcase9Clean the crankshaft and flywheel tapers with solvent such as clutch cleaner10Assembly is reverse of disassemblyReference the fastener torque specifications at the beginning of the chapter11Do not use an impact wrench to install the flywheel nut
