System Overview
There are two CFI engine management systems used on 20072011 Polaris snowmobiles: CFI DC-CFI The primary difference between the CFI and DC-CFI systems is how each system handles stator voltageIn CFI system, 100 of the stator AC voltage is converted to DC voltageIn contrast, DC-CFI systems only covert the engine management and select accessory circuits to DC voltageThe head lamps, brake lamps, and handthumb warmers are supplied with AC voltageBroken down by component, the detailed differences are included in the text below: ECU: (ALL)The ECU controls the ignitionfuel injection angles, chassisbattery relays, and supplies the MFD gauge with tachometerwater temp PERCHOTDETdiagnostic information

Flywheel: CFIThe CFI flywheel contains the
magnets for energizing the stator windings as well as two independent encoder ribsThe set of two encoder ribs are spaced 180 degrees apart from each other and provide RPM information required at engine start upA set of five encoder ribs is responsible for crank angle detection, speed, and direction informationDC-CFISame as the CFI with the exception that the flywheel is forged and the fan cover is removed from flywheel
