Chassis Electrical System 12Operator requests reverse gear while the engine is runningECU determines if the shift fork is in the forward or reverse position by analyzing the FWD and REV limit switch signal returnsIf the ECU cannot determine the position of the shift fork, the operator's request for reverse gear will be canceled and diagnostic trouble code generatedThe ECU will "request" reverse gear from the reverse controller moduleThe controller will then activate the reverse actuator motor which connects to worm gear inside the chaincaseThe ECU will signal the controller to stop the worm gear when the REV limit switch is depressed by the moving shift forkIf the reverse controller determines that problem exists with the actuator motor or shift fork worm gear, the controller will shut down, alert the ECU, and diagnostic trouble code will be generatedThe process when shifting from REV gear to FWD gear is the same as described when moving from FWD to REV gearThe ECU, and reverse controller will always return the shift fork to the FWD position whenever the machine is startedThe ECU will also command the motor to drive the shift fork FWD second time to ensure the transmission is in FWD gear3
