Chassis Electrical System Chassis Relay

The ECU controls the chassis relay via the relay control circuit (ECU Pin 215)To verify the chassis relay circuit is energized (closed): Verify that the headlights turn on after the engine has started and the engine idle RPM has stabilized Perform Vdc test at the positive and negative battery terminalsAt least 1414.5 Vdc should be present at the battery terminals when the chassis relay circuit is closed If 1414.5 Vdc is not found at the battery when the engine is running and the headlights are illuminated, verify the REDWHT alternator charging switch circuit is connected to the alternatorThe REDWHT circuit should show 1414.5 Vdc (battery voltage) whenever the chassis relay is energizedThis lead turns the alternator's charging field on (chassis relay closed) or off (chassis relay open) If 1414.5 Vdc is found on the REDWHT circuit at the alternator, verify the alternator drive belt has the correct amount of tension Verify the fusible links are not blown Replace the alternator assembly if the alternator fails to activate when the REDWHT circuit is energized with battery voltage
